| Address: Cerro de la Misión # 32 Taxco, Guerrero c.p. 40230 |
Historic Significance
The property known in Taxco as "Cerro de la Mision" (because of the hermitage that exits at the top) was adquired in 1936 by Don José J. Razo. whose dream was to build tourist destinations from the Northern borders down to the South.
In 1936, Elena Razo, due to the unfortunate death of her father, gave up her studies in Germany to return to her hometown. Despite her youth she became the perpetuator of her father´s visionary and monumental work.
It is said that faith moves mountains. A whole mountain was removed, to create Posada de la Mision in the purest Colonial Mexican style.
Posada de la Misión, was inaugurated in 1940, and seventy years later continues to operate under the tutelage of Mrs. Elena Trauwitz de Berger and her husband Mr. Henry Berger Schmidt, who have successfully positioned the hotel in national and international tourist markets |
