Historic Significance
A XVI Colonial Hacienda built within the impressive Mayan City of Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico, by the Spanish Crown during the Conquest. The Hacienda was built with recycle Mayan stones in a classic Colonial style with stone arches, Noria, Church, small monastery and corrals as a feudal cattle ranch style property.
In the early XX Century, the Carnegie Institute used the Hacienda Chichen as the headquarters for the First Academic Maya Expedition, building small cottages around vast Mayan tropical jungle gardens to house famous scholars around the Main Casco or House. In the mid 1930's the Hacienda Chichen became the first hacienda hotel in Yucatan. New rooms were added in the early 1990´s to house new archeological oriented projects and guests.
Today, Hacienda Chichen is a Mayan Jungle Eco- Cultural Destination and a romantic getaway committed to sustainable Tourism since 1990s creating eco-cultural programs to preserve the natural flora and fauna of the property with a reforestation and cultural conservation mission which includes an active social volunteer program dedicated to the Mayan children and communities nearby Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico.
